Become a Mentor

Mentor’s Requirements and Responsibilities

As a mentor, you lighten up the path of the mentee. The mentees will draw from your wealth of knowledge and experience. This would be of great benefit to the mentee.

To ensure the success of the program, you would be required to:

Support the 'MentorMe's mission and vision
Provide industry insights to enable the mentee gain a better understanding of the industry
Be accessible, committed, and engaged during the length of the program
Be patient
Be able to listen and communicate effectively with the mentee
Offer encouragement through genuine positive reinforcement
Be a positive role model
Be trustworthy and keep your conversations confidential

Your Responsibilities include:

Meet with your mentee and engage in mentoring activities in-person or virtually (as agreed with your mentee)
Willingly share your lessons learnt from your experience and professional success in the industry/field
Set up opportunities that will give the mentee exposure (i.e., shadowing during meetings, suggest field-related conferences, suggested readings, among others)
Set temporary goals to improve the ability of the mentee and help them attain it.
Encourage the mentee through positive reinforcement
Be a resource and a sounding board
Guide the mentees in making quality decisions
Escalating cases of misconduct by the mentee to the Program Manager
Character assessment of the mentee on a monthly basis

Interested?

To maximise the outcome of this experience and ensure that mentors derive value from the time they dedicate to mentee development, we recommend that mentors devote a minimum of two (2) hours per week with their mentees. The mentoring program would run its course for six (6) months.
